My family group, consisting of five people, was too large for most hotels, unless we rented three hotel rooms, which was expensive. I found Casa Lara on TripAdvisor, advertised as a villa, and it appeared to be both reasonable in price, and large enough to accommodate all of us. It turned out to be a very good choice. Lara Capraro is the proprietor, and she will make all the arrangements for reservations, and provide instructions on how to get to the property. There are several parking garages near one of the main squares in Positano, and you can park there and have a porter take luggage to the apartment, or walk it down the hill yourself toward the beach (about a seven minute walk – much easier going downhill to the apartment, than coming back up to the square). Lara is a native English speaker, so that is a plus. Once you make contact about a rental, it may be best to get in touch with her by direct email or phone, as she appears to have some difficulty connecting to the TripAdvisor mailbox. The apartment is quite large, and is on the second floor level of a building she owns, about a two minute walk from the waterfront. It is a walk up, with two flights of stairs to reach the apartment. The apartment had multiple bedrooms, and two full baths, which easily accommodated our group of five. The location was great, on a quiet square, with a large outdoor covered patio. The apartment was very clean, with nice furnishings and fully equipped kitchen – a very good deal at the price charged (much less expensive than renting two or three rooms at a hotel). Water pressure for the shower was a bit uneven at times, but OK. Lara also has a tour company, and arranged for a tour to Capri (conducted by her cousin), that everyone in our group enjoyed and thought was a very good value. Lara provided many restaurant recommendations, which were great, and is very well known in the local community. If I were going back to Positano, I would much prefer to stay in Lara’s apartment than a hotel. I would highly recommend this location if you are planning a stay in Positano for more than a couple of days, and would like to have the comfort of your own apartment in the town.
