The apartment is spacious, very clean and located right in the middle of town...close to shopping, restaurants, the beach and the ferry, making in easy to enjoy day trips to the other coastal towns...and so much more. We rented this apartment because our friends refused to stay in a hotel and wanted to experience Positano as residents rather than tourists. If you enjoy being in an apartment... read more on vacation then you will love Casa Lara.
The best thing about Casa Lara is the proprietor . She will meet you if you arrive at the right time and get porters for your luggage. Lara is a Positano native and can arrange anything you request. She also provides you with a book which is well organized with materials on sightseeing. Her brother has a cooking evening you can sign up for and she and her partner have a pizza night if you are interested. Her father and uncle are well known in Positano for being the best fishermen! Lara speaks perfect English which is extremely helpful.
The apartment is up three sets of stairs( third floor walk up) . It is immaculate featuring three bedrooms, two en suite and one bath in the hall, a well equipped kitchen , and a balcony facing the square and the sea. There is a washing machine but no dryer. A rack is on the balcony to dry your clothes. Each room has a Mitsubishi air conditioner. The showers while tight feature rain showers.
After I got over the shock of our friends grabbing the master bedroom and washing their clothes and taking over the clothing rack, I realized that left us with the other bedrooms so we slept in one and used the other as a dressing room/ drying room. If you are splitting the cost or have several family members I suggest you discuss your plans ahead of time. The two rooms we used had queen beds and were comfortable. We were so exhausted at one point that we stayed in, ate appetizers from the local wine store and were very happy.
You can take a private car between towns, a ferry or the local bus for two euro. The apartment is near the beach so the ferries are right there. Any other form of transportation is a walk up the hill to taxis and buses. The local stairs are in front of the apartment. We took 571 of them to a restaurant the first night and while our friends enjoyed the challenge we preferred walking on the road . I have asthma so it was a really bad choice. There is a local bus that takes the road around Positano. We met many locals on the bus so it seems the preferred way to get around.
We were here late in the season but the beach is a few blocks from the apartment . We sat at a restaurant facing the beach the first day and it was very pleasant.
I highly recommend Casa Lara as long as you are ok with steps. I chose this apartment because the travel person from AmEx said to make sure there were a lot of reviews. Great for a family or friends and good value for the price.

My husband and I, along with another couple, stayed at Casa Lara for four nights. It was an excellent choice for many reasons.
First, there is Lara herself... read more -- so warm, welcoming and full of excellent suggestions to make the most of our stay. She was available through WhatsApp to promptly answer any questions or give additional advice. Lara compiled a notebook with restaurant and tour suggestions, complete with phone numbers and e-mail contacts. All of her suggestions were spot-on. She booked our transportation to other locations, too, with reasonably priced and punctual drivers. When shopkeepers asked where we were staying and we said Casa Lara, everyone smiled; Lara has a wonderful reputation in town (indeed, I purchased something and the shop owner lost my number to deliver the item; she called Lara, who then reached me).
The accommodations themselves were spacious, clean, fresh and comfortable. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were well-equipped, and we had loads of space to relax, dine, and use our laptops. The kitchen was amazing: every type of cooking equipment was supplied, along with nice dishes, glassware, and cutlery. Lara left the kitchen fully stocked for us with bread, fruit, milk, juice, snacks, olive oils, condiments -- great if you want to eat in! The washing machine came in handy, allowing us to pack much lighter than otherwise would have been necessary.
The location was perfect - just a few blocks from the beach and ferries in one direction, and a few blocks from the bus station in the other direction. Across the plaza were the steps to reach the upper levels of Positano, so we could head up on foot. The apartment was nestled in among shops, restaurants and grocery stores, so very convenient. Despite the proximity to everything, the apartment was quiet.
I would definitely stay at Casa Lara again. The experience was 100% positive.

It just doesn't get any better than Casa Lara! The apartment is recently renovated/remodeled and is absolutely gorgeous and in pristine condition. It is spacious, comfortable, logically arranged, immaculate, well-lit,... read more and has ample electrical outlets, excellent water pressure, and modern appliances. There is a large balcony which overlooks a small piazza below (and from which you can clearly view the Tyrrhenian Sea), which leads to the beach just a short distance ahead, and which is lined with quaint shops and nice restaurants along the way. It is notable that the apartment is only a few short flights of stairs up from this piazza, adding significantly to the appeal of this apartment in a town which is notorious for being built vertically on a rocky mountain, necessitating climbs of several hundred stairs to some properties. There is a staircase (La Scalinatelle) which leads from the piazza up to a central point in Positano, where there are many additional shops and restaurants. As if all of this weren't enough, perhaps the best thing about Casa Lara is Lara, herself. She is an absolutely stellar host, who clearly takes much pride in her apartment, and who has thought of every little detail. She even had coffee, fresh fruit and breakfast/snack items awaiting us when we arrived. She also facilitated the transfer of our luggage to and from the unit by the porters (highly recommended and well worth the nominal fee), and advised us of the optimal way to take advantage of the offerings of Positano and the entire Sorrentine Peninsula, as well as Capri (including transportation). There is a binder housing all of the information you need, and for any questions, she is nearly immediately responsive. Needless to say, when we return to the Amalfi Coast, we will be staying at Casa Lara!

I cannot praise Casa Lara enough!! Lara herself is amazing - booking was a breeze and Lara was constantly available to answer any questions I had and to give advice... read more prior to our trip. She organized transport and porters for us both on arrival and departure. The apartment itself is beautiful - light and airy and beautifully furnished - even the toilet paper matched the bathroom decor!! Lara has thought of absolutely everything you could possibly need and more and there is plenty of everything!! Right down to Boots cucumber face wash!! The terrace is lovely for eating al fresco and a bit of people watching in the square below. It has a peek-a-boo ocean view and the location is the best you could hope for in Positano - right by the harbor, so no steps!! A grocery store just steps away, and plenty of restaurants and bars on the doorstep if you don't fancy a climb. Lara recommended Blue Star for our boat hire and they themselves were amazing - Elizabeth went out of her way to find us a boat and captain at short notice. I can honestly say this was the best experience I have had when staying in a vacation home and I would love to go back. Thanks, Lara, for helping to make our 30th anniversary so special!!

We were so fortunate to be able to stay at Lara's beautiful apartment during our stay in Positano. The location was absolutely perfect - it really is only about 50... read more steps to the shore-line, and about half that to the main shopping area. Just the location alone is more than enough to recommend this place, especially for the price. However, the unit is incredible - especially compared to the so-called "four star" hotel we stayed previously. It's wonderful for a family - each BR is very comfortable with a queen or king bed; the unit is spacious and clean with bathrooms in 2 of the 3 BRs; the balcony is large and has a great view of the village and sea. Add in a newly remodeled unit with a full kitchen, fridge, washing machine, and wifi, and there is no better value you will get in the Amalfi Coast. Lara is a very attentive host and an outstanding resource for vacationers. The best compliment I could give is that this unit is so good I almost want to keep it a secret among family and friends.

It was such a pleasure to stay at this beautiful apartment. Lara has thought of every detail and made us feel very welcome. It is very well equiped, pristinely clean,... read more comfortable beds, ample towels, wifi etc.great washing machine, dishwasher. It was so easy to stay there right amongst little shops, close to restaurants, the beach and ferries. Lara had the basics there for us already including bread, jam, biscuits, cold water, prosecco, beer and more which was very much appreciated as we didn't have to go shopping on our arrival day. The balcony was great to have our late afternoon drinks and snacks and watch the world go by. There are steps going up to the apartment obviously and I would recommend hiring a porter to bring your suitcases to the apartment, I think that was 10euros, not sure now, but just makes it easier. Once in the apartment it's very, very easy and convenient to walk around as it is so close to the beach. The apartment is beautifully decorated in blue and white and has such a lovely ambience. Truly felt so at home there and wish we could have stayed for a month.

Recently, two couples booked a 10 night stay at Casa Lara in Positano. The plan was to use this as a base of operations for day trips to Caprl, Amalfi,... read more Ravello, Sorrento, Pompeii and surrounds. The apartment is perfectly located looking down on the main piazza in Positano, only steps from the Cheisa del Santa Maria Assunta and the Spiagga Grande. It is at the bottom of the pedestrian stairway which descends from the westerly hillside palazzos and hotels overlooking the town. The walk to the beach, restaurants and boat dock is literally stairless, unique for this vertical town of many steps.
Our hostess, Lara Coprano was fantastic in helping us locate groceries, restaurants and wine stores. She works mornings down at the boat dock selling excursions, so she was always available to consult on restaurant reservations, car service, bus and boat schedules. She offered to make phone calls to schedule car pickup for our day trip to Pompeii and restaurant reservations in the evening using her Italian language skills that we lacked. Of course, one would swear that English was her first language!
The apartment was immaculate and very well equipped. Lara was so kind to stock the place with assorted staples including breads, wine, beer, water, butter, spices as well as napkins, TP, Kleenex, etc.
The three bedroom, two bath apartment was perfect for two unrelated couples. It would work good for three couples, especially if they were related, since one of the bathrooms would have to be shared. The kitchen was huge and we cooked a huge steak dinner one night with au poivre and porcini mushroom wine sauces...plenty of pots and pans, serving platters, etc.
The best part of the apartment was the huge outdoor patio overlooking the piazza. With room to seat eight, we ate most of our meals and played cards there at night. One night we had front row seats on our third floor balcony for a wedding party down below on the piazza and reveled in the music, dancing and local customs.
Considering that we were in a prime location not requiring one to negotiate stairs to get to the main attractions, we felt that our €100 per night per couple rental was a great value. We would certainly recommend to family friends and others. One of our best rips yet!!

Lara was an excellent hostess and provided us many suggestions on restaurants and places to visit. She arranged for drivers and other services when needed.

One word of caution. There are many steep climbs and steps. Not recommended for the elderly or informed.
We swam in the Mediterranean and enjoyed the beach
A trip to Pompei was a highlight. We also visited Amalfi, Ravella, Capri, Sorrento, and Positano itself.
We would highly recommend it. ".............................................................The food and wine were fabricated lous

We had a driver from Rome and he dropped us off on the road - we walked down the main pedestrian passage and were met by the porters bringing our luggage. It is the perfect spot if you do not wish to negotiate the numerous steps it takes to get to many of other B&B's and hotels.
